According to the State of California Business & Professions Code, “a home inspection is a noninvasive, physical examination, performed for a fee in connection with a transfer, … of real property, of the mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems or the structural and essential components of a residential dwelling… designed to identify material defects in those systems, structures and components.

That means there are a lot of things that a good inspector takes care of for you so you don’t have to manage all of the details yourself.
